WATCH LIVE! TOM AUNGST TALKS TECHNIQUE, FRONT ENSEMBLES OF THE 1990S AND 2000S

Watch on Thursday, May 28, as Cadets Program Facilitator and Battery Arranger, Tom Aungst, is joined by a panel of the most influential front ensemble arrangers of the 1990s and 2000s. This will be the second in the series, Tom Aungst Talks Technique.

Last week, Tom was joined in a percussion technique virtual roundtable by Scott Johnson of the Blue Devils, Ralph Hardimon of Santa Clara Vanguard and Blue Knights, Glen Crosby of Pacific Crest, Colin McNutt of the Boston Crusaders, Thom Hannum of Carolina Crown, and Lee Beddis of The Cadets. Over 20,000 fans joined in live or watched the recorded broadcast of this informative and fun panel discussion.

This Cadets Live webinar, Front Ensembles of the 1990s and 2000s, will feature Jim Casella, Erik Johnson, Neil Larrivee, and Jeff Lee:

Jim Casella is a composer and music publisher, best known for the music he’s created for percussion ensembles and the world-class drum corps Santa Clara Vanguard and The Cavaliers. The company he co-founded, Tapspace, is one of the leading publishers of percussion music in the world.

From 1995 to 2005 and 2008 to 2010, Erik Johnson was on the instructional staff with The Cavaliers, serving on the design team as the front ensemble arranger and coordinator. Johnson co-wrote the music for The Cavaliers 2002 DCI Championship winning show, Frameworks, along with Richard Saucedo and Bret Kuhn. Today, Johnson is the president and founder of Innovative Percussion, Inc., a leading manufacturer of drumsticks and keyboard percussion mallets.

Neil Larrivee is back for his second year with The Cadets, serving as Front Ensemble Facilitator. Throughout much of the 1990s and 2000s, Neil teamed up with Tom Aungst to arrange the front ensemble and percussion music.

Jeff Lee taught and arranged for the Blue Devils Front Ensemble from 1993 through 2002, and was the Music Director and Sound Designer for the original Broadway production, Blast, and it’s follow up program, Shockwave. Today Jeff owns The Audio Ranch and is an acclaimed sound engineer.

Fans, teachers, and marching members can all join in on Thursday at 8 pm eastern time by logging onto live.cadets.org or tuning in to The Cadets live on Facebook.
